This work starts off like many other alien abduction tales and follows the same scenario of encounter, abduction and experimentation. It is near the end of the book that a new and different twist is placed on the reports of alien abduction. I won't spoil it for the reader, except to say I found the author's ideas new and novel as well as frightening in their implications.
The strange thing about this work is that for me, it brought home the fact that the alien abduction scenario is very much like the manifestation of the allies in Castaneda's works. Let me explain. In Castaneda's works the allies are portrayed as inorganic beings that have no organism yet they have consciousness and awareness and share the planet with us in a sort of twin world. Without possessing form they therefore take on whatever form that will elicit the most emotion from the person who witnesses their appearance. If fear is the most dominant emotion then they appear as ferocious beings, akin to demons. In other parts of the same work it was postulated that the demons saw in the middle ages were simply inorganic beings who took the fear of the time and made it manifest. What has this got to do with alien abduction you ask? Think about this, what if, modern man is too sophisticated to have the same fears and beliefs as peasants of the middle ages, but is easily convinced of the reality of extraterrestrials, what would be the outcome? Since the inorganic beings feast on strong emotions, it would be easy for them to take a form we can relate to (aliens) and a procedure we all have a fear of (medical experimentation) and scare the bejesus out of us! Just a thought.
At any rate this work, although interesting, is mainly a first person account of the results of hypnotic regression therapy, which manages to speculate that child molestation is initiated by aliens to test sexual maturity! It is fascinating and entertaining and would help round out a collection of alien abduction literature but that is about all. An excellent addition to the library for alien abduction buffs.
