BOOK: Amulets and Talismans
AUTHOR: Sir Wallis Budge
PUBLISHER: Citadel Press
COPYRIGHT: 1968 University Books Inc.

Although this title is not available through Amazon.com as it is out of print, I feel this book is well worth the effort of seeking out a copy. My readers might wish to try Barnes and Noble, or Books A Million I purchased this book this year at Books a Million, so some copies are still available.

This work by Sir Budge is definitely the best from an academic viewpoint, as Sir Budge was the Keeper of Egyptian and Assyrian Antiquities at the British Museum. He examines the history and use of Amulets and Talismans from the early Babylonian to the Christian era. The book has twenty-two plates and three hundred illustrations and is 543 pages including the index. Also, I found it interesting as it contains an illustration of the Sumerian demon Pazuzu of 'The Exorcist' fame.

The final chapters include information on different forms of divination and other magical practices. This work is easy to read and is a must for the occult library of the serious student. I highly recommend it to my readers.
