TITLE: The Templar Revelation
AUTHOR: Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince
PUBLISHER: Simon and Shuster
FORMAT REVIEWED: Paperback
COPYRIGHT: 1997 Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince

In general I have avoided reviewing 'conspiracy theory and secret society' books due to the often spurious nature of the so called evidence presented in the majority of such works. I can say that with this work, that is not the case. I found the book highly informative and spell binding. It was indeed hard to put down.

The authors have done an excellent job of tying up a ton of loose ends that have been dangling about since the da Vinci Code and other works. Beginning with the works of da Vinci and carrying their investigation of secret societies from the Knights Templar to the modern Priory of Sion, the authors have pieced together some startling revelations about Jesus, Mary Magdalene and the Roman Catholic Church. Revelations that could, if accepted, change the entire fabric of Western Culture.

Much too convoluted to delve into in a simple review, I think this quote may enlighten us.

"In its fervor to establish itself as the one and only religion, Christianity has always waged war on pagans. Temples were destroyed and people tortured and killed, from Iceland to South America, from Ireland to Egypt in the name of Jesus Christ. Yet if we are right, and Jesus himself was a pagan then this Christian fervor was not only once again a denial of common humanity, but also of their founder's own principles."

Far from being a denunciation of Christianity, this work shows the intimate relationship of the early Christians with their pagan brothers and how the real message of Jesus may have been usurped by the organized Church in the early years of it's founding. I have found this work fascinating and recommend it to all students of the occult/religion. It is a great addition to the occult library.
